Dates follow the Umm al-Qura calendar. Islamic days begin at sunset, and your local mosque will confirm Ramadan and Eid after the moon sighting.

        Questions about prayer times

Why are these times different from my mosque's timetable?

Mosques choose how to calculate Fajr and Isha, which Asr time to follow, and often add a few minutes for caution. Choose the same method here, or use your mosque's printed timetable for congregational prayers.

Which calculation method should I choose?

We suggest the method most widely used where you live: Moonsighting Committee for the UK and Ireland, ISNA for North America, Umm al-Qura for Saudi Arabia, University of Islamic Sciences, Karachi for South Asia, and Muslim World League elsewhere. The methods differ mainly in the angle of the sun used for Fajr and Isha.

What is the difference between standard and Hanafi Asr?

Asr begins when an object's shadow equals its length (the Shafi'i, Maliki and Hanbali view) or twice its length (the Hanafi view), so Hanafi Asr is later. We show both times on the Asr card.

How are Fajr and Isha worked out in the UK summer?

Far from the equator the sky may never get fully dark in summer. Moonsighting Committee times adjust for the season; for other methods we apply a high-latitude rule, which you can change under Calculation.

How is the Qibla direction calculated?

It is the starting bearing of the shortest route over the globe from your location to the Kaaba in Makkah, measured clockwise from true north. That is why from the UK it points south-east rather than straight east.

        When does Ramadan 2027 start?

Ramadan 1448 is expected to begin on the evening of Sunday 7 February 2027, with the first fast on Monday 8 February, subject to the moon sighting.

Are the mosques and events on this page checked?

Listings marked Verified have been checked by our team. Others come from community sources such as OpenStreetMap and are shown as not yet verified, so please confirm details with the mosque or organiser.
